The ShawnAlert is being developed to help disseminate lost or missing child information when the case may not meet all of the criteria required for the issuance of an Amber alert. In order to meet the criteria for a ShawnAlert the child must have gone missing within the last 30 days, and be of one of the following case types: Missing, Endangered Missing, Non-Family Abduction or Family Abduction. Cases classified as Runaway may be eligible depending on the particular circumstances.
The ShawnAlert system currently consists of the ShawnAlert Ticker, like the one scrolling across the screen above, that can be placed on participating member websites, as well as ShawnAlert notifications by email. We are finalizing the ticker and back end systems and will be making a new version available here within the next few days.
In the meantime check out the ShawnAlert information available on our missing child website at A Lost Child (www.alostchild.com). There you can find additional information about the children currently featured on the ShawnAlert, and sign up for the ShawnAlert email notification system.
